Power Rangers: To The Tenth Power
The Quest for Phaedos
by Robert and Mistri, Cho's Observer

Previously on Power Rangers: To The Tenth Power.

Sunday, June 11th.

The Rangers were at Fortress Articia, ready to begin the sequence teleport. All had said their goodbyes and were now waiting.

"Well, Isidore," said Valdi. "This is your command. You know the shots, you call the shots."

Isidore nodded. "Okay. We'll be teleporting to Earth today, where we will rest. Tomorrow, to Aquitar. Then to Phaedos on Tuesday. Wednesday, we'll quest. Thursday, Aquitar. Friday, Earth. And back on Unaka on Saturday with the Great Power."

"Um, you're assuming we're going to succeed in the quest," said Adria. "The ground is littered with the bones of those who have tried for it... and failed."

"Adria, we so didn't need to know that!" snapped Kylara.

"Articula, activate the teleportation beam," sighed Isidore.

~*~

The Rangers came out of teleport on Earth in a fairly majestic part of the planet.

"To think right now we are walking on the very ground out ancestors walked in," Sita commented before going into her analysis.

"I don't know about you all but I need something to eat," Landre commented.

"Somehow food sounds good about now," Sita agreed.

"When my friend was the last time you ate?" Isidore inquired.

"This morning when E-Berg and Alpha practically shoved it down my throat."

They then went in search of some kind of eatery finally finding a small Synthomat. Shortly after that they heard a burst of profanity.

"Bloody hell this piece of **** rejected then proceeded to eat my payment card," Xelia screamed.

"Mind if I look at your card?" an employee requested.

"My friends is probably of no use right now but you can use mine if you want," Landre said.

The employee looked at Landre's card and ran it through a reader.

"Ah here is the problem the Synthetron machine isn't compatible with your card. Also the exchange rate between Terran Credits and Unakan Credits is not real favorable right now."

"How will we pay for our food since we all carry the same type of card?"

"Considering the problem it's on the house."

"Meaning," Adria said.

"He is going to give us our food for free," Sita translated.

"Oh," Adria said.

They grabbed what food they could and headed off.

"We lucked out on that one easily," Landre said.

"If necessary I would have done to those Synthetrons what I feel like doing to E-Berg and Alpha which is rewiring their circuits."

"What I wouldn't give for my Hover disc right now," Xelia commented.

"Is it just me or is everyone staring right at us?" Wildrik wondered.

"Well our style of dress is different but not that different," Sita observed.

"We better stand ready just in case," Valdi said.

The rangers then went into a small test building and talked the proprietor out of the use of a lounge for a while.

"Nice to get off our feet for a bit. We've been on them a while," Radha pointed out.

"How long before we teleport to Aquitar?"

"18 hrs and 4 minutes," Sita informed them.

"Ok we have to manage at least one more meal along with some sleep," Valdi indicated.

They sat there for a while when the Proprietor brought in some food and set up a small buffet.

"Will you be spending the night at all?"

"We will but well we have limited funds for our trip and from what we heard the exchange rate between our currency and yours isn't real favorable," Valdi reported.

"What currency do you use?"

"Unakan Credits," Sita replied.

"Not to worry I'll discount the rooms accordingly," she said as she bowed out and left.

"Something is real freaky Valdi and I don't like it," Sita informed the others.

"We'll manage Sita. Besides what's one night."

"I'm worried after all things haven't been the best," Sita reminded them.

"Stay on alert then and keep track of time," Valdi ordered as they were being lead to their rooms. Luckily everyone's wrist phones went off five minutes before they were teleported out fairly refreshed.

Monday 12th June, 4124.

"Whoa . . ." said Wildrik. "This place is incredible... "

They had landed inside the base of the Aquitian Rangers. Suddenly, five people came up to them.

"Greetings!" said the woman who wore white underneath her standard uniform. "I am Delphine. To what do we owe the pleasure?"

"Um, we're passing through to go to Phaedos," said Isidore.

"I fear you will not find Erindøril there," she said. "Latest reports indicate they have arisen from their dormancy, and are now reviewing the situation. They will no longer be on Phaedos."

"Uh... we wanted the Great Power... " said Isidore.

"Auspicious timing," said the red shirt. "I am Aurico. You will not need to quest, as the upsurging of Ninjetti Power has activated the Monolith."

"Who or what are Erindøril?" asked Adria, politely.

"I am Cestro. The team of Erindøril are the Northern Rangers, the Rangers of Phaedos," he said. "But come with us. For today is the Day of Transference, when we will pass on our powers to new bearers."

They followed the Aquitians to the ceremony. In regal tones, the morphers were taken off.

"Ralia, will you take upon the mantle of the White Aquitian Ranger and position of leader?"

"For Aquitar, it shall be so," Ralia, a young woman said.

Changing only by name and color, the rest of the new Rangers accepted their responsibility. Three males: Travi, Red; Zaun, Black; Wujin, Blue. Two females: Ralia, White; Leiva, Yellow.

"And now... It's Morphin Time!" cried Ralia.

"White Aquitar Ranger Power!"

"Black Aquitar Ranger Power!"

"Blue Aquitar Ranger Power!"

"Yellow Aquitar Ranger Power!"

"Red Aquitar Ranger Power!"

In five flashes, they were morphed and ready to bear the Power to protect Aquitar.

Applauding, the Rangers of Unaka were then escorted to some quarters.

"This seems very weird," muttered Isidore. "It seems too easy."

"And so it should be," said Tideus, coming in. "You want the Great Power, or at least, that is what everyone thinks. No one is entirely sure of the status of the Great Power."

"But you, well... Aurico said the Monolith was activated and we wouldn't be questing!" cried Kylara.

"True. But just because you do not need to quest does not mean you will not. You will not know for certain until you are there. And since very few have succeeded in the quest, people are... well, treating you like gods and goddesses before you die."

"Oh, so our deaths are ascertained?" muttered Xelia.

"Not so," said Tideus. "You have as much chance as anyone else." And he departed.

"Now I really am scared," muttered Charda.

Everyone got some sleep that night, and the next morning the newest Rangers of Aquitar teleported them to Phaedos.

Tuesday 13th June, 4124.

The ten teens looked around them. They had landed on a rocky landscape, near a beach of some sort. Radha seemed to be thinking somberly as she looked around the ruined landscape. Civilisation was evident here... well, remnants really. Now nature covered the lands of the planet Phaedos.

"Now what?" asked Valdi, looking around. Suddenly, three warriors were upon them. One garbed in a green leather bikini, one in yellow Triforian royal raiment, and the third in black Edenite resistance fashion.

"Who are you that have come to Phaedos?" asked the lean female warrior.

"We're the Rangers of Unaka," said Isidore at last, seeing as no one else was going to speak.

"And what is your purpose in coming?" asked the yellow clad one.

"We wanted to obtain the Great Power," said Isidore. "But no one has really given us a direct answer as to whether the Monolith is active or not."

"The Monolith is activated," said Miss Bikini. "And indeed it is active."

"What does that mean for us? And who are you people?"

"I am Dulcea, Master Warrior of the planet Phaedos. My Triforian friend is Triana and my Edenite friend is Lexian. And it means that once you are aware of your spirit animal, you will not have need to travel to the Monolith. And who are you?"

"I'm Isidore Cantrell, 2nd in command, White Unakan," Isidore replied. "Valdi Egan, our leader, Red Unakan. Sita Lynch, technical and knowledge expert, Black Unakan. Kylara Kalina, resident archist, Pink Unakan." At this, a smile crossed Dulcea's face. "Xelia Silvino, Purple Unakan. Wildrik Maire, geological expert, Gold Unakan. Radha Xenta, serene storyteller, Yellow Unakan. Adria Tenwa, Silver Unakan. Charda Pepe, resident humorist. And Landre Basto, Green Unakan."

"The Nameless One is back?" asked Dulcea. "Are you ten even aware... No, you couldn't be."

"What do you mean?" asked Sita, nervously.

"Of your ancestry," said Triana easily. "You, Valdi. Adam Park, Tanya Sloan, Danny Delgado, Trini Kwan, Karyn Hammond, Rick Purdue are in your ancestry line. Aisha Campbell, Zack Taylor, Rocky DeSantos, Lucas Kendall, Kelly Brennan, Brad Cox for Adria's."

Lexian picked up. "Xelia. Alyssa Enrile, Cole Evans, Dana Mitchell, Carter Grayson, Amelia Cummings, Greg Simmons. Kylara. Andros of KO-35, Ashley Hammond, Tommy Oliver, Kimberly Hart, Andrew Hammond, Janet Cranston."

"Wildrik. Eric Myers, Taylor Earhardt. Jason Lee Scott, Ryan Mitchell, Joel Rawlings. Charda. Billy Cranston, Katherine Hilliard, Kai Chen, Carlos Valertes, Max Cooper. Isidore. Zhane and Karone of KO-35, Jennifer Scotts, Wesley Collins, Robert Zhang, Mitsu Miyajima," added Dulcea.

"Radha," continued Triana. "Katie Walker, Trip Regis of Xybria, Chad Lee, Kelsey Winslow, Teri Reynolds. Landre. Leo Corbett, Kendrix Morgan, Theodore J. Jarvis Johnson, Cassie Chan, Damon Henderson. And Sita. Maya of Mirinoi, Mike Corbett, Justin Stewart, Merrick Baliton, Steve Rolandeck, Crown Princess of Eltare Sarita."

They just gaped. Sighing, the three led them away to the Sacred Grounds.

~*~

It was Wednesday. They had done nothing much while on Phaedos, except to celebrate Radha's birthday the day before. And now, they were standing around the Sacred Fire of the Ninjetti. And thus they were plunged into their quests.

~*~

Ah a nice peaceful day for a run, Xelia figured as she went running along before stopping to eat a few apples she found along the ground. When she looked behind her she could she had four legs and a glance at her footprints showed that her footprints almost overlapped and had two big toes in each part. I studied these in Interplanetary biology Deer have footprints like these.

~*~

Landre found himself on a great plain, with fifty spears pointed at him. But when he tried to speak, he found he could not.

What's happening? he thought. It soon became clear as he heard a voice.

"Hasufel! Arod!" Oh, bloody brilliant! I'm trapped in a horse's body in the filming of Lord of the Rings!

~*~

Kylara when she opened her eyes could sense almost peace around her. She could also see that she was fairly small. As she swept out her arms she could see that they were more like wings due to the feathers that hung down. As she flew past a reflective area she could see that she was a dove.

~*~

Charda looked nervously around in the dark. I cannot see a damned thing!! he cursed. Suddenly, he did something, and he got a sketchy pattern of sorts. That was echolation!! I could be a dolphin... or a bat. He travelled around a little more, and finally deduced that he must be a bat.

~*~

Adria was moving around as she explored the flowers in a field nearby. As she was doing it she noticed how she was able to hover over the flowers and drink a fluid within the flower. If only that humming would stop. It's driving me crazy. Wait the humming is me. I must be a humming bird.

~*~

Isidore saw a load of carrion, and swooped down to get it. He found he was enjoying it and was also quiet revolted at it simultaneously. What is happening to me? he wondered.

He shrieked as more birds came to feast and defended his meat. Oh, lord, I'm a vulture!? Gross!!!

~*~

A roaring sound woke Wildrik from his nap as he looked around the grasslands he could see that a female cat was nearby looking quite regal. He glanced around as he sensed great strength in his own body and saw a very plush mane which basically told him he was a lion for the female cat was a lioness.

~*~

Sita opened her eyes. She was apparently in some frozen regions of a planet. It's kinda cold, but I'm as warm as toast. But I'm not human. Well, I am, but I'm not in human form. She loped along, and suddenly came across a white building. Interested, she scampered in and came face to face with an android.

"I'm bored. I'll take care of you."

~*~

Valdi's eyes opened up to see that he was flying gracefully over the terrain at a very high distance. He could sense his majesticness. He did a check as best he could and realized when he saw his plumage that he was an eagle.

~*~

Radha found herself in a forest. "Whoa. This looks alright." She ran along the path, almost falling off a cliff. But she spread her wings and flew. I'm flying! Woo hoo!!! Hey... what's that city? Flying down, she spread her wings to land, and suddenly everyone fell to their knees.

"Hail our Mistress's Messenger!" cried one.

What is he talking about? I'm no messenger!

"Praise Athena!"

That's my Zord... oh my god, I'm an owl!!!

~*~

"AAAAAUUUGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!" Sita yelled as she came out of her quest, startling everyone, who had finished their quests by now. She demorphed out of her Ninjetti suit, cursing in a range of languages.

They looked at her oddly. But Dulcea spoke. "If you would like, you may go and see the Monolith now. You will not be tested. Go through the Neola Jungle."

The Rangers nodded and went off. They compared for a while their spirit animals, to which Sita never once contributed, radiating 'very pissed off.' After about forty minutes, they were half way to the Monolith, and a load of some strange creatures teleported in. The NejiNinjetti of Vadaei.

Everyone yelled and leapt to fight. But being completely inexperienced with the NejiNinjetti, plus the tendancy to reform into two more NejiNinjetti, the Rangers were soon all captured and hog tied.

One moved towards Xelia and stopped short. It hissed something to the others, and they disappeared, leaving them tied up but good.

"What the hell was that?" asked Isidore calmly from where he lay.

"Fighters that can kick our arses," replied Sita, just as calmly. "Any ideas on getting out?"

"Ropes are tied too tightly," replied Wildrik. "You know, I really wish I had a iolaj rock. It's a very rare rock in that it heats up when you apply pressure. I could burn my ropes off."

"Well, we don't have one," replied Kylara. Suddenly she disappeared and reappeared. "Hmm. Taking on the form of my spirit animal worked." She got everyone else loose, and they continued to the Monolith.

Once there, they ooohed and ahhhed over it, before returning to Dulcea in the Sacred Grounds.

"How was your trip to the Monolith?" the Master Warrior inquired.

"We ran into a little trouble on the way?"

"There shouldn't have been any tests since you weren't technically questing," Triana pointed out.

"Well we did," Sita said before describing their opponents.

"The NejiNinjetti. This is not good. Did you try using your Ninjetti Powers at all?"

They all admitted they hadn't except for Kylara taking on her spirit form. Sita of course kept quiet. "Lexian, contact the Phaedosian Forces, inform them of the problem."

"Yes Dulcea," the Edenite leader said before leaving.

"We best prepare to head for Aquitar," Isidore said. "We have a long journey ahead of us."

"Agreed Isidore," Valdi said.

They then ported away. Soon they arrived at the Aquitian Command Center. Wujin and Ralia were on hand. The new Blue and White Aquitian Rangers were looking things over. Tideus walked in right after that.

"You all look to be in good shape. How did things go?"

"We managed to get the Great Power without questing as Aurico told us but when we went to visit the Monolith so we could say we were there we were attacked by something called NejiNinjetti. Dulcea said something about having to alert the Phaedosian Forces yet there was almost no life on Phaedos."

"Sometimes a term like that is used to refer to Erindøril. The NejiNinjetti are the footsoldiers of an ancient Villianess known as Vadaei. Her biggest enemy is Erindøril. I doubt you have anything to worry about."

"I hope not Tideus. Still it has me worried," Valdi admitted.

"Ralia and the other Aquitian Rangers won't let anything happen to you during your time on Aquitar. Come I will show you back to the guest quarters."

As they were heading for the guest quarters they noticed Leiva the new Yellow Aquitian Ranger walking by. Shortly after they were in their quarters the Aquitian female stopped in to see her color sister.

"Hi, you busy?" Leiva asked Radha.

"Not really this is just one stop on our journey home with our Ninjetti abilities on top of out normal powers."

"The one girl seemed I don't know distracted almost. She was the one with the Black shirt on."

"Sita hasn't had an easy life as it is and recently she had a big shock in her life. You see Sita lost her parents when we were twelve and recently Dani one of the Nameless Ones goons told Sita how she was Sita's mother. To really make things strange Sita woke up from her spirit quest screaming and she's been real quiet since that moment and won't even talk about her spirit animal. The rest of us were fairly open about our spirit animals."

"Could Sita have a problem with her spirit animal and purposely isn't discussing it?" Leiva suggested. Radha considered.

"That's likely as anything else. I've not been able to think of anything," Radha admitted. "She's my best friend."

"I'll come along to talk with her," Leiva offered.

"Why not?" The two went to Sita's room, and she let them in rather reluctantly.

"What do you want?" she sighed.

"We were wondering why you were screaming after your quest," said Radha gently.

"Oh, no reason. I just hate my spirit animal, I'm fighting my own mother, I hate my spirit animal, I have a cold, I hate my spirit animal, I'm sick of this little jaunty-waunty, I hate my spirit animal, I'm hungry, I hate my spirit animal, I'm tired and I can't sleep, and I hate my spirit animal. Oh, and did I mention? I hate my spirit animal," Sita's sarcasm was rather poisonous.

"Right. What is your spirit animal?" asked Radha gently.

Sita's face crumpled. "It's a blasted Minartic Fox!" she sobbed. "I saw the event of E-Berg deciding he was bored and that he would take care of that Minartic Fox at Fortress Articia!!! And the stupid thing keeps bugging me all the time!!!"

Radha sighed. In Sita's place, she'd feel just as bad. "You feel bad that your spirit animal is an animal you've had personal annoying experiences with?"

"Yes," said Sita.

"Sita, your problem is not new. One time it's said that a ranger named Adam Park was annoyed that he was a frog."

"Thankfully Adam wasn't my ancestor," Sita snapped.

Radha did what she could to cheer up her teammate. The next day they headed for Earth.

"This does not look like where we were last time," Sita commented.

"Why worry about it? We'll only be here for a day," Charda pointed out.

They headed for a restaurant.

"Table for ten. By chance did you make a reservation?" the hostess inquired.

"We just came from off world," Valdi informed her. "We're from Unaka."

The waitress chortled a bit.

"Strange name. Was somebody drunk when they named your planet?" the waitress wondered.

"Look lady just find us a table and give us a clue of the exchange rate," Sita growled as she went for her daggers.

"OK. Last I knew the exchange rate was 3 Terran Credits to the Unakan Credit. That's better then last week when you needed forty Unakans to get one Terran Credit."

"Good to know. Could you see if this payment card will work in your system?" Landre asked handing his over.

"Sure sir," The waitress said.

She was gone a few seconds she came back with menus.

"Your card did work sir. Will you all be ordering off the menus or taking advantage of the buffet. The Buffet is 1 ½ Terran Credits and is all you can eat."

Sita, Kylara, Wildrik, Adria, Charda, and Xelia decided to get the buffet while Landre, Radha, Isidore, and Valdi ordered off the menu. They were soon stuffed. They then headed for a small inn like area where they rented a few rooms. They slept for probably six and half hours when they were ported out.

"Well how successful were you all?" Hilestra asked from where she was leaning against the war room wall.

"Watch," Valdi said, as he grabbed a coin from his pocket.

"Red Eagle Power."

"White Vulture Power."

"Pink Dove Power."

"Green Horse Power."

"Gold Lion Power."

"Silver Hummingbird Power."

"Yellow Owl Power."

"Blue Bat Power."

"Purple Deer Power."

Sita simply stood there.

"What?"

"Aren't you going to morph with the rest of us?" Valdi inquired.

"No I'm not," Sita said as she walked out towards her lab.

"What's with her?" Hilestra wondered.

"No clue sis. You feeling better now?"

"Yes. I just haven't gone home yet though I've been up and about for a couple days. I wanted to see how things are going with you all."

"Well we were successful in our trip sis. If anything it's probably time you made it home." Valdi said before putting one arm on his sister's shoulder and porting out.

"I think Valdi has the right idea all of us should probably be getting home."

"Articula what is today's date?" Adria wondered.

"June 18th," their mentor replied.

"My wedding is in 3 days I have a lot of preparations to make. Articula I might be unavailable for battle between now and after my wedding."

"OK I'll try and make sure you aren't called out."

"OK have the Rangers in Formal Uniform at my village shortly after sunrise."

End
