Disclaimer: If you saw the character on TV then Haim Saban owns it. If the only place you saw it was in a fanfic by Robert Gutheim or Mistri Xades then guess what: We own it! This is a new International Writing Collaboration which covers a lot of territory and several time zones since Robert lives on the East coast of the United States and Mistri.... well he lives all the way over in Australia, so as you can see it even covers two different hemispheres. This comes after Moving On and takes place late Janurary 1997. Mistri owns Vadaei, [that's pronounced VAY-di-I,] the Phaedos Powers and their bearers, Mistri, Geneva, Calcia, Edy, Asharani, Karei, Vedi, Dalila and Bambi. These nine characters cannot be borrowed, as Mistri is using them in a story for publication. They are protected under international copyright law.
Carter and Ryan were working at Angel Grove's firefighting district. It was good to see what others did, mused Carter.
It was only ruined by those idiots who supported the UAE. More often than not, Carter and Ryan would teleport away to avoid being captured. And more often than not, they'd meet up with some of the others who were also trying to escape. It was getting to be a little too much.
Finally Carter called a meeting over it. "Look guys, You're probably not going to like this, but I think we're going to have to go underground. We can't keep trying to avoid the UAE, now that we actually have a chance of stopping them. We're all that is left of the resistance. We had at one time nearly five hundred members. Unfortunately, all of them either were spies, got captured, changed sides, got killed in the line of duty.... We're all that is left. Before, when it was managable, we could work and sabotage. Now, we can't, at least not without being questioned."
"The only advantage that we have is that the UAE doesn't know who we are. Not a single one," stressed Carter. Brianca raised her hand.
"Mechinack knows who I am at least. I challenged him when I got my morpher."
"Well, screw that assumption. Any more bad news?" asked Carter.
"Well, I think we should only go into hiding as we're found out, myself," said Kai. "This way, we have for as long as possible contacts on the outside." Carter nodded, he could see the sense in that.
"Well, who would have to go into hiding immediately?" asked Carter. He, Ryan, Leo, and Trini raised their hands.
"Okay. Geez, this is annoying. And for crying out loud, don't get caught!"
Everyone nodded, and then they separated. Zack, Kim, Kat, Jason, Tommy, Adam, Rocky, and David left for the activity area. There they began to do their various activities. As they exercised, they began to notice they were significantly better at it. Not that much better, but enough to notice it. Must be a side effect of being a Ninjetti, thought Kim, and felt a wave of sadness pass through her.
Soon afterwards, they met up to receive assignments.
"Okay. Trini, Leo, you go with Kendrix and Dana, and get made up for scouting outside without being recognised," Carter said. "Ryan, you and I will see about sticking around and monitoring."
A short time later Carter was sitting in his quarters when Tyra stopped by .
"Something bugging you Tyra? You're usually one of the shoulders we look toward when we're troubled."
"I know before the accident Edy stopped by my quarters a few times because of what happened to her back before she joined the resistance. My concern is this Carter because of my pregnancy I have to venture out periodically for appointments and so forth. Therefore I can't afford to get be discovered after all I am putting another life at risk."
"Scary thing is Tyra you have a point. When is your next appointment?"
"Not for a few weeks. I just had one within the last week or so."
"Maybe limit your trips into the city as much as possible. Maybe have Dana go with you just in case you end up having to go into battle. You're what just ending the first trimester?"
"Yes."
"Hopefully you won't end up having to go into hiding. Who knows Tyra your pregnancy could after the baby is born provide a good cover for you. After all who would expect a woman caring for a child of being a ranger or freedom fighter?"
"That's assuming Garrett doesn't succeed in winning a custody battle he threatened me with."
"Who is Garrett?"
"My ex-fiancee. He also happens to be the father of my unborn child. We had an argument shortly after my last appointment and afterwards well the engagement was dangling by a thread for a while and I cut the thread and permanently ended it."
"What would your child do for a father if you ended your engagement to Garrett?"
"Zack would handle the duties. It's probably better for him to do it as it is because of rangering," Tyra said as Dana walked in.
"Dana, you mind accompanying Tyra when she goes to her doctor's appointments? With her pregnancy and all I want to be prepared for anything that might go wrong."
"Not a bad idea Carter. After all unless something happens soon we all could end up in hiding," Dana said.
"We're hoping to avoid that. Especially with recent events," said Carter.
Later that night, Dimitria was doing her usual sensor sweep. She noted in due course several unregistered blips, and she meant to have the Rangers check it out.
But everything fell apart the next day. Garrett, pissed off about the broken engagement, told the UAE everything he knew. Who had been fighting them all the years. That they were associated with the Rangers. That they were going to keep fighting until they won.
They had to all go underground. Carter was almost ready to kill Garrett himself. The UAE did it for him.
After Carter had cooled down, they met up again.
"Well, our semi-secret is screwed," said Trini. "What should be our next course of action?"
"Well," said Jason. "I believe we should enlist the help of whoever the hell we can. The Aquitians, Edenites, Eltarians, Triforians, Inquirians, and Phaedosians, are the ones that spring readily to mind..."
"And you're not likely to receive help from those quarters," broke in a voice.
