Disclaimer: I do not take credit for Celine Dion's song, "If That's What It Takes." from her cd, I'm Falling Into You.
Trini walked to the pond in Angel Grove Park. It'd been awhile since she'd been there. Trini still remembered the private sad goodbye she'd had with Billy just a year and a half ago. He'd confessed his love for her; she'd reciprocated. But she could not pass the chance of a lifetime; they'd both agreed on that. Billy and Trini had written to each other while Trini was in Switzerland. Their relationship had blossomed into a strong spiritual love, the strongest love possilbe. In the same park, in the same spot, she was planning to be reunited with him.
Trini saw Billy leaning against a tree. She saw the outline of his face and knew that something was wrong. He turned to see her and she saw the tears in his eyes.
Billy pulled Trini into a hug. "Billy, why are you crying?" she whispered into his ear.
He sqeezed her tightly. "I missed you."
"I missed you too, Billy."
"Tommy asked me to work on the Zords this afternoon," Trini looked at his face. "I told him I was getting married and then he'd said,'To what? One of your machines?' ".
"What did you say?"
"I told him I wasn't getting married to one of my machines and if he felt that lowly of me, to ditch it on me and not my future wife. I was so surprised that he felt that way......."
His future wife?"Billy, do you mean.........? I mean, do you want to......"
Before Trini could say another word, Billy was on one knee. He took a velvet box out of his pocket. "Trinity Lynn Kwan, will you share your life with me, forever? Will you trust me with your heart and soul, as I trust you? Trini, will you marry me?"
Trini had longed and feared that question, ever since stepping on the plane in Geneva. She'd spent the whole flight thinking about the rest of her life and couldn't imagine going on without him. "Yes, Billy. I'll marry you." He put the citrine ring on her finger.
She looped her arms around his neck and they kissed hungrily. Their spiritual and physical love intertwined and filled their hearts with complete elation.
"Billy, I love you and I'd give anything up for you. I want to be your wife, lover and friend. I want you to be honest with me and confide in me. Don't keep secrets."
"Trini I promise from this day forward we are one." The wind carried a song to their ears; they silently listened knowing that those were the words they wished to say.
Through the wind and the rain, through the smoke and the fire
When the fear rises up and waves ever higher
I will lay down my heart, my body, my soul
I will hold on all night and never let go
Ev'ry second I live, that's the promise I make
Baby, that's what I'll give, if that's what it takes
