Anyway, there's a group of superheroes that keep the space aliens from taking over Angel Grove and then the world. That's what the aliens always say. "First Angel Grove, and then the world!" Kinda stupid, when you think about it, but I'm not complaining. It makes my job easier. What I'm trying to say, Mami, is that I've become a Power Ranger!
I know you don't believe me, but just hear me out for a sec. See, we made these friends: Jason, Zack, Trini, Billy, Tommy, and Kimberly. They were really friendly. Actually, we met when we all saved a baby from falling down a hill, but that's another story altogether.
So anyway, this was during that whole ninja competition, right as we were moving to Angel Grove. Adam, Aisha, and I, along with our teacher, Mr. Anderson, got kidnapped by those space aliens I was telling you about. They wanted to make us evil warriors! Of course we said no, so they sicced this huge snake on us. Apparently, the second it bit us, we'd become evil for eternity or something. We were about to lose hope when the Power Rangers showed up and saved our butts.
Mami... those kids, Tommy and the others... they were Power Rangers! We found out after the Blue Ranger nearly got killed rescuing us, and the Pink and White Rangers had to take off his helmet so he could breathe. I nearly had a heart attack then I saw Billy there. Aisha and Adam figured out who the other two were (Tommy and Kim), but I was too shocked to say anything.
We got taken to this big place called a Command Center, and we met this guy... a giant head in a tube... named Zordon, who's their mentor. And then it got weirder.
See, Jason, Zack, and Trini got chosen to go to some Peace Conference overseas. Which meant they were down two rangers. Zordon chose us to be the new Red, Black, and Yellow rangers. I'm the Red Ranger... I pilot the Tyrannosaurus-Red-Dragon ThunderZord. Adam's the Black Ranger, so he got the Mastodon-Lion ThunderZord, and Aisha got the Yellow Ranger's power, and the Sabre-Toothed-Tiger-Griffin ThunderZord. They're a mouthful to say, aren't they? Especially Aisha's. She keeps tripping up when she's saying it.
So anyway, Mami, I'm a superhero now. See, studying isn't everything! We still go to school and all, so being a Power Ranger is sort of like a part-time job. Only more dangerous. I thought about things a lot the night after we got our powers. I was thinking... I probably won't live to grow up, get married, and have kids. I go into battle all the time, and there's always the possibility I'll never come back. But you know what? It's worth it. To know that I'm helping to save the people of Earth from destruction is incredible. I'd rather die young, knowing I did some good for the world, than to live pointlessly ever after.
Mami, I've got to go. Zordon's paged us- there must be another monster downtown. I hope you've been getting these letters. I really miss you, but I know someday I'll see you again. As I throw this letter into the fire, I'll watch the ashes float upward, and I'll think of you. I love you, Mami.
Your grandson,
The Red Ranger (!),
