Life Before Becoming a Ranger: Spent childhood traveling
around the country with his family. Competed for the State of Montana
and the State of Iowa in gymnastics (travelled around the country
for that as well) until he was about 19. Was fresh out of college
with his Speech/Communications and Theatre degree from Graceland
College in Iowa before realizing that blue was his color. Moved
to Los Angeles where he waited tables in Hollywood for two months
before the Power Rangers auditions in September 1992.
Hobbies: Swimming, reading plays, riding wave-jammers, windsurfing,
mountain bike riding, mountain hiking. Would like to start camping
more.
Fave Playwright: Harold Pinter
On Pets: "If I did have a dog now I would feel bad because
I'm gone all day and the dog would be left at home. So that's why
I've never had an animal yet."
Future Plans: Buying a house, working on a night-time soap
(no set plans, though)
How Much Competition Was There: "...they had an open casting
call. I went in with 3-4,000 other people, and eight callbacks later
I got the role!"
How He Got Those Absolutely Divine Pumped-Up Arms: Works
out every night.
Heroes: Darth Vader, Jack Nicholson
Favorite Music Group: U2
Favorite T.V. Show: Married with Children
Favorite Actor/Actress: Jack Nicholson/Patricia Arquette
Best Quality: "I'm a good friend."
Worst Quality: "I complain and whine too much."
Dream Car: Toyota 4Runner
Dream Date: Someone who can make him laugh... "that means
you can get inside of me, or that I trust you."
What He's Up to Now: Writing a screenplay that combines five
of his plays. The screenplay is entitled "Tribulations of a Fast
Food Junkie"
Other Talents: He's "an excellent gymnast" ("Reality Check",
one of the Power Rangers PSA's.)
Favorite Color: "Green. I do wear blue, but not the obnoxious
blue that Billy wears. Darker Blues." BUT, in a later article, he
states, "My favorite color is black. It always represents class
and sophistication to me. And it's sleek!"
Biggest Shortcoming: "I'm a control freak. I want everything
to be perfect, so I have trouble watching the show because I pick
apart my performance."
On Being a Star: "I think my life has changed in the sense
that I enjoy my free time now! My time is "my" time. I make sure
that I go out and make the best of it, enjoy the outdoors. It's
not that I mind being recognized, it's just that sometimes I need
to go home and forget that I'm a Power Ranger."
Best thing about being a Ranger: "The fans that look up to
me are the ones who feel left out. One time, this short, chunky
kid came up and hugged me and said, 'I love you, Billy. You've done
so much for me.' It just hit my heart to know that I play a character
who tells kids that somebody's there for them."
Most Interesting Fan Present: Received a piece of fan mail with a
wedding band inside. |
