Mike gets swindled out of $99.95 by an unscrupulous music publisher who
claims that he will place Nesmith's song with top star Joannie Jans. Music
includes: "Gonna Buy Me A Dog" and "Mary, Mary."
- Micky: "In 1952, all of America was humming this
never to be forgotten hit.... What was the name of that hit?" (173K)
- Mike: "H'lo, Micky? It's Mike! Yeah, listen,
I'm at the music publishers! No, he said it was great, man, he's gonna
give it to Joanie Jans! I can't talk now, G'bye!" (143K)
- Mike: "Hello, Ma? This is Mike! Yeah, look,
I'm at a music publishers'n'he said that my song was great an' he's
gonna give it to a big star, look I can't talk now G'bye!" (138K)
- Mike: "Hello Mr. Conway? This is Mike Nesmith,
an'-No, Mike Nesmith.... Nes-Mith. Yeah. Well you probably don't remember
me but we met on a bus about five years ago. Yeah, well look, I'm at
a music publishers'n'he just heard a song I wrote an' he said....
