Note: *The song used in this story called, "Nothing Really Matters" belongs to Madonna and not me. "Nothing Really Matters" also happens to be the name of this story and this story happens to be the brainchild of this wondrous song. :o But seriously, this story is kind of confusing and you MIGHT understand if you have heard the song before. It's actually a really good song! :) But you don't have to listen to me necessarily! ^_^ Please continue to read........

Nothing Really Matters
by WhiteZeo

When I was very young
Nothing really mattered to me
But making myself happy
I was the only one

Now that I am grown
Everything's changed
I'll never be same
Because of you

Nothing really matters
Love is all we need
Everything I give you
All comes back to me

Looking at my life
It's very clear to me
I lived so selfishly
I was the only one

I realize
That nobody wins
Something is ending
And something begins

Nothing really matters
Love is all we need
Everything I give you
All comes back to me

Nothing really matters
Love is all we need
Everything I give you
All comes back to me

Nothing takes the past away
Like the future
Nothing makes the darkness go
Like the light

You're shelter from the storm
Give me comfort in your arms

Nothing really matters
Love is all we need
Everything I give you
All comes back to me

Nothing really matters
Love is all we need
Everything I give you
All comes back to me

Katherine Hillard {Kat} listened as the song faded away, to yet repeat again; She had the CD player in her bedroom on repeat mode.

Humming the tune to herself, she stood up from her desk where she was doing her homework, and walked towards her bed, a pen in her hand. Kneeling down, Kat lifted up the mattress of the bed and pulled out a pink notebook; Her diary.

The Pink Ranger sat down on the floor next to her bed and opened the pink diary. Turning to a clean sheet, she began to write in neat cursive across the page. Entry #67

Dear Diary,

I really don't have anything important to write about, but while listening to one of my favorite songs, Nothing Really Matters, I realized I had some thoughts that I wanted to write down.

Most of these thoughts have to do with my boyfriend, Tommy Oliver. Surprise, surprise! Like I don't write about him enough!

But seriously, I've been writing to you ever since I knew how to write, right? So you and I both know better than anyone that I used to be a spoiled and selfish brat. I didn't care about anything or anyone, but me. I was the only one that mattered; I believed that I was the center of the universe.

Now, that I'm older, I look back on those thoughts and I go 'Yeah, right! You wish, Katherine!'. Everything makes so much more sense now. Ever since Tommy asked me out to that Luau, things that were once blurry in my mind, are now crystal clear. Now, I know what truly matters. Love. Love is all Tommy and I need. Just like in the song, 'Nothing really matters. Love is all we need. Everything I give you. All comes back to me'. Tommy's changed my life and in a way, he's saved it too.

Love,
Little Kitty

Kat finished writing and leaned her head against the bed. "You've saved my life from monsters plenty of times, both as the Red Zeo Ranger and as the Red Turbo Ranger," the blonde sighed, looking to a photo of Tommy sitting on her nightstand, "But you've also saved my life from another deadly thing," a tear found its way out of her eye and trickled down her cheek, "Myself."

Turning back to another diary entry, Katherine began to read about one of the most horrifying days of her life; Memories flashing into her mind as she read every word.

{FLASHBACK}

Running through the empty house, Kat sprinted towards the medical cabinet in the kitchen and took out two small bottles; One of bottle of Tylenol and the other of Advil. "This'll do, I guess," the blonde told to no one in particular, as she closed the wooden door slowly.

Going over to the refrigerator next, she pulled open then door and grabbed a bottle of water sitting on the top rack.

With the three items in her hand, Katherine skipped out of the kitchen, to yet turn back and look at it one last time. "Good-bye, Kitchen," she bade it as if it was a sentient being.

Climbing up the stairs, the Pink Ranger giggled to herself, "This is gonna be my best birthday yet!"

The 'excitement' getting to her, she dashed up the rest of the steps and ran into her room; Shutting and locking the door behind herself.

Placing the three bottles down on her desk, she moved to sit on her pink bed. "I'd better take off my zeonizers and communicator," Kat told herself, while removing her morphing tools and communications device.

"There," she shook her free arms, "That feels much better."

Smoothing out her pink dress, the Australian girl stood up from the bed and picked up the water bottle off of the desk. She approached her mirror and stared at her image reflected in the shiny glass for a moment, before breaking the cap seal off of the bottle of water. "Happy birthday to me," she began to sing softly, gradually getting louder, "Happy birthday to me. Happy birthday dear Katherine," tears began to fall from her crystal blue eyes, "Happy birthday to me."

She placed the bottle down onto the table and popped open the Advil bottle with her thumb. "Might as well get it over with," she whispered to her reflection.

The teenager turned the bottle upside down and poured at least twenty pills of the painkiller into her hand. Picking up the water again, she took a moment to look out the window. "Good-bye world," the blonde bade sadly.

Just as she was about to throw the batch of painkillers into her mouth, she heard the doorbell ring from downstairs. "Who the hell is that?!?!" Kat cried, immediately pouring all of the pills in her hand back into their bottle and placing the water bottle back onto the desk, "No one's supposed to be here for at least two hours!"

Running out of her room, Katherine sped down the stairs to the front door. As she unlocked the door, the bell rang again. "Hold on!" she yapped, as she opened the door to reveal a rather impatient Tommy, "Oh. Hi, Luv. What are you doing here?"

"I came to get my girlfriend," he smiled sweetly, "Remember we we're supposed to meet at the Youth Center this afternoon."

"Oh, yeah," the Pink Ranger's mind thought back to the bottles of medicine standing on her desk, "It must have slipped my mind. Sorry," she lied easily.

Tommy chuckled. "I guess my bad memory's contagious," he kissed her on the cheek and took her hand into his, "Now, come on! Let's get going!"

With that, Katherine couldn't resist and was pulled down to the Youth Center unwillingly.

{END OF FLASHBACK}

Kat shook her head, remembering the day she came so close to committing suicide. "If you hadn't come and dragged me down to that surprise birthday party you had rigged for me, I doubt I would be here right now," she closed her diary and tucked it safely under her bed, "I owe you so much, Luv. I don't think I'll ever be able to repay you."

Just then, her communicator beeped. "Kat here," she immediately responded to the call.

"Geez, Kat. You sound anxious for another attack from Divatox," a voice teased her.

"Tommy!" she squealed over the speaker, then regained her composure, "What are you calling me for?"

She heard her boyfriend laugh. "It's a secret. Just come here to Angel's Bluff, okay?"

"Okay," she frowned, "But you know I don't like being kept in the dark for long."

Tommy's voice came over again. "Trust me, once you get down here, I'll tell you everything. Tommy out."

"Right," she muttered, teleporting away in a pink shower of sparks.

Once the pink sparks cleared her vision, Kat saw Tommy standing in front of her and staring at her. "What are you staring at?" she queried, "Haven't you seen the Pink Turbo Ranger before?"

He stuck his tongue out at her and retorted, "Of course. But I've never seen her so beautiful before."

The blonde came up and kissed him on the cheek. "Flattery will get you everywhere," she told, as she pulled away, "Now what did you want to tell me?"

"Oh," Tommy mumbled, "I just wanted to let you know how much I love you," he pulled a small black velvet jewelry box out of his pocket, "I know this is major spur of the moment, but I came to thinking about our future. I realized since you're going to London and I'm staying here, we're gonna be apart," Kat looked at him puzzled. *What are you trying to tell me, Luv?*

"Tommy?" she questioned him, confused.

"I guess what I'm trying to say is," the Red Ranger opened the box to reveal a glimmering diamond ring, causing the Pink Ranger to gasp, "Will you marry me, Katherine Hillard?"

"Ohmigod!" she cried, tears springing from her eyes almost immediately, "Of course," Kat threw herself at Tommy and kissed him.

Removing himself from the kiss for a minute, he whispered, "I love you, Kat."

"I love you, Tommy," Katherine kissed him again, her thoughts wavering back to the words of Madonna's song.

Nothing really matters
Love is all we need
Everything I give you
All comes back to me
