The New Girl
by Kendrix

"Why are you telling me this?" Andrea McKazz asked staring down at the necklace she held in her hands.

"You hold the Power, you can help!" Andrea's mother said patiently. "When we adopted you, we were told to give you this key when you turned 16. It held mythical Powers."

"Like what?" Andrea wondered.

"I'm not sure, but you're cousin knows."

"Cousin?" Andrea asked. She didn't have any cousins, that she knew of. Her parents' families were very small.

"You have a cousin in Angel Grove."

"Angel Grove? California?" Andrea asked.

"Yes, I have arrangements for you to fly out there in a day so you can... use your powers!"

"I'm going to be leaving Arizona?" Andrea demanded. "I can't leave! I'm a Sophomore, I still have two years to go here!"

"You can transfer to Angel Grove High! You'll make friends fast! I promise!"

"What am I going to do in California?"

"Use the key."

"You can't make me go!" Andrea said bursting into tears and running into her room and slamming the door.

Two Days Later....

"You be good, you hear?" Andrea's mother requested as she showed her to the plane, which would take her to Angel Grove.

"Yes, Mother," Andrea said bitterly. She resented her a great deal for making her leave.

"Don't use that tone of voice with you're mother," her father said sternly.

"Sorry," Andrea said staring down at her hands.

"I know this is rough on you, but you need to do this," her mother said kissing the top of her head and gently pushing her toward the plane.

"Okay, bye," Andrea said glumly.

She quickly went to the plane and got on. Soon, the plane left, taking her to her "so-called destiny" as her boyfriend had said with a smile. She couldn't understand how he could just let her go, without a, "please stay, or I'll miss you too much."

After an hour of boredom, she finally took out her necklace from her pocket and slipped it over her head. It was gorgeous. It was a purple key, with a weird edge. It seemed to glow when she played with the edge. Finally she laid her head against the head rest, and fell asleep.

"Are you sure we were supposed to meet her at 12:30?" T.J. asked anxiously glancing around the airport.

"Yeah, Rebecca said Andrea would be arriving at 12:30." Cassie said confidently. "She is supposed to be wearing a purple dress."

"I can't wait to meet your cousin, Cassie." Ashley said smiling. "I don't think I know anyone as far away as Arizona."

"Me either," Justin agreed.

"Goes double for me." T.J. added. "What about you, Carlos?"

"I have relatives all over the place, mostly in New Mexico,"

"Oh, I think that's her!" Cassie exclaimed as they saw a Native American girl in a short purple dress and carrying a purple duffel bag.

"She's pretty," T.J. murmured.

"Yeah," Carlos agreed.

"Andrea!" Cassie called waving an arm.

Andrea looked over at the caller. She saw a medium height dark haired girl, who looked a lot like herself. She was dressed in blue jean shorts and a pink tank top, with her long hair in pig tail braids.

"Cassie?" Andrea asked shyly.

"Yup," Cassie agreed, noting the girl's shy manner. "These are my friends, T.J., Carlos, Justin, and Ashley."

"It's nice to meet y'all." Andrea said self-consciously. "I'm Andrea McKazz."

"It's nice to meet you too." Ashley added, also noting her shy manner.

"Tell me, what's Arizona like?"

"Hot, very, very hot." Andrea said as they headed inside the airport. "But, it's okay, once you get used to it."

"So's California." Cassie admitted, laughing slightly.

"Oh, I don't know, it's kinda nice here," Andrea said as they grabbed the rest of her bags.

"Come on." T.J. said suddenly. "I need to finish the math homework, before lunch is over."

"Is there school today?" Andrea asked surprised.

"Yea, only for another hour." Carlos explained. "A monster attacked earlier, and the school's going to close down after fifth period."

"What do you mean, monster?" Andrea demanded.

"Didn't you know that Angel Grove was attacked by monsters?" Justin asked.

"Monsters? I thought they were only myth," Andrea said, obviously confused.

"Well, they're not here. The Power Rangers kill them," Cassie explained.

"I've heard of them, but we always thought they were just a tourist trap," Andrea admitted.

"Well, trust us, they aren't." T.J. said laughing.

"Have you seen them up close and personal?" Andrea asked.

"You could... say that!" Cassie giggled as she exchanged a smile with the others.

"Hmmm." Andrea sighed, suddenly thinking about where they were heading. "Where am I going to stay?"

"With me of course!" Cassie declared. "Do you think I'm going to let my cousin stay at a hotel or somethin'?"

Andrea shrugged and smiled. "Sorry, but this is so much to comprehend on such a short amount of time!"

"S'okay. We understand," Cassie assured her.

"Yeah, I know how tough it is to move around," Justin piped up.

"Oh, you do?" Andrea asked slightly taken aback by his tone.

"Yeah, I do, I've lived all over the place, practically missing most of my childhood." Justin explained with a shrug.

"Oh, knock it off Jay, you did not!" T.J. said laughing.

"Come on, let's go to my house," Cassie said as she led the group outside and to her car, a pink convertible.

"Ooh! It's gorgeous! Can I drive it?" Andrea asked.

"Sure," Cassie said shrugging and tossing her the keys.

"Let's blow this joint!" Justin announced.

T.J. and Cassie rolled their eyes at each other. Justin could be so... so amusing!

"Let's go."

Everyone headed to the car, grinning as Andrea started up the car.

It was going to be a interesting school year!
