Love's Laughter
by Melanie Bisson

A falling star etched a silvery trail across the heavens over Angel Grove, California. A pair of dark eyes watched it fall, and whispered softly, "I wish that one day, this world will be peaceful enough for Dulcea and I to be together forever."

Adam Park sighed slightly to himself. In the past three months, he'd made three visits to Phaedos, where he and his beloved Dulcea had spent as much time together as they possibly could. They couldn't make love the last two times he'd been there, she was too far along in her pregnancy for that to be safe. They'd taken just as much comfort from just being with each other as they ever had in their physical relationship.

I wonder what we're going to have? he pondered, gazing up at the small point of light he knew was the sun of Phaedos. And I wonder if I'll ever be able to be with Dulcea always.

He still couldn't believe some of this was happening. Could he, Adam Park, really be a Power Ranger, a defender of the planet, and the lover of one of the most powerful warriors in the universe, who was going to have his child? Some nights he woke up wondering if it was all just a wonderful dream. That thought was usually shoved out of his head the next time Rita and Zedd send down one of their monsters, which proved all too painfully that it was no dream.

"Good night, Dulcea," he whispered softly, getting up and heading inside. He spoke to her every night, it didn't matter that she was thousands of light years away and couldn't hear him. "I'm coming to see you tomorrow. Be well. I love you."

"I love you, Adam Park," Dulcea whispered, eyes on the star-filled skies over the Ninjetti Temple. "I can't wait til tomorrow."

She slowly and carefully got to her feet, placing a hand on her swelling stomach as she did so. In all her life, she had never imagined she would have a child, and certainly not with such a wonderful person as Adam. She allowed her thoughts to dwell fulsomely on the man she loved, and smiled softly. The attack of Ivan Ooze had brought destruction and devestation upon Angel Grove, but it had also brought her a sweet and gentle man such as she had not dreamed existed. Though her original reasons for making love to Adam had not been those of love, she had fallen in love so swiftly it was amazing. Within the space of ten minutes, she'd known they were to be together forever.

But we're not together, she gritted her teeth against the pain that very thought caused. We will be, she promised herself. One day, we WILL be together, and never have to part again. I swear it, by all the power of the Ninjetti!

Dulcea made her way to the cliffs overlooking the Neola Jungle, and gazed softly into it. Through there had Adam made his way, part of the only group that had ever succeeded in the quest for the powers. If only I could have went with them. If only I could leave Phaedos! That one night comes so rarely. . .and it won't happen again for who knows how long?

All that night Dulcea sat by the cliffside, dozing off towards midnight. As the sun rose over Phaedos once more, she was called back to wakefulness by a well-known, well-loved voice. She turned, smiling.

"Adam!"

Adam smiled as he appeared behind Dulcea. No matter what the view he had of her, he loved it. He watched for a few moments, enjoying the play of the morning light over her bronzed skin and hair.

"Dulcea," he called out her name, and she turned, smiling.

"Adam!" she carefully made her way to her feet and came towards him. Despite her girth, they managed a warm, loving embrace, and stood locked in a tender kiss for several long moments. When at last they moved apart, it wasn't even to arm's length.

She looked him up and down briefly. "You've been well?" it was half a question, half a statement, and he nodded. "I've missed you!" her fingers ran through her hair gently. "Quite a lot."

Adam smiled. "I've missed you! A couple of days a month don't compare to being with you full time!"

"Believe me, I know! I never realized how lonely I was here until you came," she drew him closer to her for another kiss.

"I love you, Dulcea," Adam whispered softly as he gazed into her eyes. "I will love you forever."

"As I will love you, Adam. Forever and always."

The next two months seemed to fly by for the young couple. Events on Earth continued in their pace. Kim left the team to pursue her gymnastics career, giving her place on the team to Kat, a young Australian girl who had been recently freed from Rita's spell.

Adam came to Phaedos when he could, but things twisted rather oddly for all concerned when Master Vile warped time with the Orb of Doom. When that was finally settled by the reconstruction of the Zeo Crystal, and the Rangers had fought off the first attack of the Machine Empire, another emergency came to their attention.

~*~

"What do you mean she's having her child?" Adam almost fainted when he heard that! Zordon repeated it again patiently.

DULCEA ENTERED LABOR THIS MORNING. SHE HAS ASKED YOU COME TO PHAEDOS AS SOON AS . . .

Adam had left the Power Chamber before another word could come from the ancient mentor. Zordon shook his head ruefully. Ah, young love!

"Push, push!" the healer urged Dulcea as she writhed in the grip of labor pains. Dulcea pushed, swearing in five languages as she did so. "I can see the head!"

"Adam!" Dulcea shrieked, in more pain now than she'd ever been in any battle. "Where are you!?"

A streak of green light lit the small room suddenly, and Adam stood beside her. He took her hand quickly. "I'm here, honey," he whispered into her ear. "Come on, you can do this!"

With Adam beside her, Dulcea gave one mighty push, then another. A small cry sounded, and the healer smiled at them both. "Congratulations. It's a girl."

"Dulcea, I love you," Adam murmured as he leaned against her. Since the birth of their daughter Star, named for the one thing they could both see from their seperate worlds, he had spent every weekend on Phaedos. His parents had come up shortly after the birth to meet their granddaughter, and had oohed and ahhed over both the child and the sheer natural beauty of the world she would grow up on.

"I love you, Adam," they had never stopped saying that to each other. Those words meant the world to them, meant the universe. Slowly Adam ran his hand down Dulcea's back, caressing her spine and reaching down to her buttocks. She arched her back, enjoying the pleasure of his touch as she had not in months.

Her lips and his joined in a passionate kiss, as his hands slipped to cup her breasts, slightly larger now, but still perfection in form and shape. Her head bent to wander down his chest, followed by her fingers, stirring up fire in his blood and loins that only she could quench. Even as she did that to him, he was doing that and more to her, leaning her back onto the soft bed in her room, which would be theirs one day, they both sensed.

"Adam," she whispered as he kissed from the base of her neck to her own opening. "Oh, Adam!"

Her hands swept the blankets away to reveal the sculptured splendor that was the man she loved so very much, in all his glory. Before he could say or do anything, she was upon him with hands and lips.

And before they could complete the marvelous act of love they had not been able to enjoy for months, and had waited so patiently until almost two months after Star's birth to taste again, the results of their first lovemaking began to wail loudly from her crib in the next room. Adam slowly pulled himself away from Dulcea, and smiled. "Duty calls."

She nodded and got up, pulling a cloak about her. "Pleasure will call once I get back!"

Adam smiled as she went to tend to the baby, then looked out at the Phaedosian night. A falling star once more poured by, and he smiled. "My life is full," he whispered. "I'll be here one day to stay. I know it."

The Green Zeo Ranger, still with the power of the Black Ninjetti in his heart and soul, leaned back on the bed, and smiled. Life was good, and as he heard the laughter of the two females in his life, he realized, it was going to get better. A lot better.

End?
